I have been a very bad blogger lately! The truth is we have been so busy that in my "free" time, I just don't want to sit down and blog! Bad Amy! I hope to be better about it this summer! A couple weeks ago we went up North to visit my parent's. I needed to get out of town before Aliya started living at Tuacahn and I started living in my car taking her to Tuacahn! This time was an extra special visit. A couple months ago I had a friend I hadn't been in contact with in years contact me through Facebook! This is just not any old friend, this is a friend who I knew when we lived in Colorado who I spent every waking moment with during the late elementary years to the early Junior High years! Her name is Karen and she was a friend that was there during a rough time in my childhood. A bitter sweet time. There are those people in your life who stay with you, even after you have lost contact with them. The last time I saw her was the summer before my Junior year in High School. Over the years I have thought about her and wondered where she might be. There were even times I googled her name (haha...). I am so thankful she was able to find me. I have missed her over the years. We wrote messages and called each other, remembering all the fun crazy times we had together. A time where you could walk miles to where ever you would want to go, without a parent. The days of endless sleepovers and early boyfriends. The days where two very uncoordinated girls could put together a dance and audition for a city talent show! (We didn't make it in the talent show, btw. We were way out of our league, but we sure had fun.) So many memories I had forgotten. Little did we know that our children would love each other as much as we did. You would of thought they knew each other for years. It was an instant friendship!
When I say instant, I mean instant! This was probably two minutes after they had met. This is Karen's daughter, Emilee. She is five like Landon. She is a spit fire and Landon totally loved that about her. He held her hand pretty much the whole weekend and made sure she was safe in her car seat!
This is Sage. She is nine like Aliya! They became instant BFF's as well! They were so funny together. It's amazing how similar their personalities were. Both Tom Boys. Both love music. Both with the same vibrant personality that I absolutely love in Aliya!
This is Gabe. I know one day Gabe and Grant are going cause some trouble together. Both are major wanderer's. Both love to test their Mommy's patience. Both sweet as sweet can be!
Landon is in heaven. :)
At Thanksgiving point they had all the farm animals out in the barn. What a fun place to take the kids and it is very inexpensive.
You could feed all the animals. This little guy here was a food hog. He would not let any of the animals have any of the food.
The kids had the best time!
We took all the kids to the Aquarium. Landon always had to be with Emilee and Emilee always had to be with Landon. They were so funny in the car.
Aliya with Papa's favorite plant.
So cute.
Exploring!
I love this picture. Such cute girls.
Hahaha...funny boy!
"umm...that's not my kid climbing up the rocks."
Grant could spend hours at the Aquarium having Nana explain every display.
Cute boys!
There's Karen's oldest, Taylor. What a cute sweet kid he is.
BFF's Touching the sting rays!
Aren't they cute? We tried Karen!
The goodbye's were awful! My heart ached for them. I am so happy they were able to meet.
Hahaha... Wow, it has taken me a long time to write this post. It's been minimized and I just work on it when I have a sec. Notice there are no pictures of Karen and I. I can't believe we didn't get just one. Oh well. Next time. I am so glad we are in touch again. She has a wonderful life, wonderful kids and she is a great person. They are coming to visit us in July and my kids have already planned sleeping arrangements and are making plans for when they are here. Can't wait.
